Check SIM Owner Details Pakistan — Free Official PTA Methods for 2026

Want to find out who owns a SIM card in Pakistan? There are only three safe ways to do it. First, go to cnic.sims.pk on your browser — this costs nothing at all. Second, text your CNIC number to 668 (you pay just Rs. 2 plus tax). Third, if you want to know the name on a SIM that is already inside your phone, write MNP and send it to 667. These three ways are the only ones approved by Pakistan's phone authority called PTA. The answers come straight from the government's SIM tracking system (called SVMS).

Cnic Sim Check
Think of it like this: somebody could secretly register a phone SIM using your ID card number, and you would never know unless you check. Knowing how to look up your own SIM owner details keeps you safe from fraud. PTA says you can have a maximum of 8 SIMs on one CNIC. In 2025 alone, PTA found 4.7 million SIMs that were registered on people's CNICs without their permission — many of those people had no idea until it was too late.

Right now in May 2026, there are about 197 million working SIMs in Pakistan across six phone companies. PTA has already shut down 3.2 million fake SIMs and found 4.7 million more that were registered but did not pass the fingerprint check from NADRA. If you have not looked at your CNIC status recently, someone might have put a SIM on your name without you knowing — and that SIM could be used for scams or money fraud.

This page teaches you everything you need to know. Every trick shown here is approved by PTA, totally legal, and double-checked with real government sources. We do not use any secret databases, shady apps, or steal your information.

Try Our Free SIM & CNIC Lookup Tool First

Before you read the rest of this page, try our free tool above. Just type in your phone number or your 13-digit CNIC and it will tell you which official PTA method you should use for your situation.

⚠️ Very Important Rule: This tool is only for checking your own SIM information — the SIMs that are on YOUR CNIC or NICOP. You are not allowed to look up someone else's SIM details. Pakistan's law is very strict about this, and PTA does not make any exceptions.
🔒 Your privacy is safe. We do not save anything you type. We do not look into any private database. This tool simply figures out which official PTA method (668, cnic.sims.pk, or 667) is right for you and sends you there.

What Are SIM Owner Details Exactly?

The 6 Pieces of Information Stored for Every SIM Card

Every time someone buys a SIM card in Pakistan, the phone company saves some important information about that person. Think of it like a school register — but instead of students, it tracks SIM cards. Here are the six things that get saved:

  1. Owner's Full Name — This is the name written on your CNIC or NICOP card. When you buy a SIM, the shop scans your fingerprint and saves your name forever with that SIM.
  2. Your 13-Digit CNIC Number — This is like your ID number. PTA uses this number to track how many SIMs belong to you. When you check via 668 or cnic.sims.pk, they search for this number.
  3. Which Phone Company — This tells you if the SIM belongs to Jazz, Zong, Telenor, Ufone, SCO, or ONIC. If you move your number to a different company (called porting), this gets updated too.
  4. When the SIM Was Turned On — This is the exact date your fingerprint was scanned and the SIM started working. It shows when you first got the SIM.
  5. Fingerprint Check Status — This tells you if your fingerprint was verified properly. It can say "Verified" (everything is fine), "Needs Re-check" (go to the shop again), or "Failed" (fingerprint did not match, SIM may stop working).
  6. SIM Working Status — This tells you if the SIM is currently working (Active), temporarily stopped (Suspended), shut down by the company (Blocked), or permanently closed (Deactivated).

These six pieces of information exist for every SIM in Pakistan — whether you check them or not. That is why it is smart to look them up every month. If someone secretly puts a SIM on your name, you will not know until you actually check.

What the Law Says You Can Do

Before you check any number, here is a simple list of what is allowed and what is not allowed:

What You Want to Do Is It Allowed?
See all SIMs registered to your own ID card ✅ Yes — use cnic.sims.pk or text 668
Find the name on the SIM that is inside your phone right now ✅ Yes — text MNP to 667
Find out which company a phone number uses (Jazz, Zong, etc.) ✅ Yes — text "N [space] the number" to 76367
Delete a fake SIM from your ID card record ✅ Yes — by visiting the company's shop and telling PTA
Find the name and home address of a stranger using their number ❌ No — This is illegal and you can get in trouble
Track exactly where someone is on a map ❌ No — Real phone trackers are only for the police
Use a "fresh sim database" website to spy on people ❌ No — PTA blocks these fake websites because they break the law

The 4 Official Ways to Check

There are only four real ways to check phone details in Pakistan that the government allows:

  1. Send an SMS to 668 — text your CNIC to see how many SIMs you have (takes about 11 seconds).
  2. Go to cnic.sims.pk — check for free on the internet and print the page.
  3. Send MNP to 667 — find the owner's name of the SIM you are holding.
  4. Send N to 76367 — see which phone company a number belongs to.

These ways are safe, cheap or free, fast, and completely legal.

Way Number 1 — Use cnic.sims.pk on the Internet (100% Free)

This is the main website built by PTA. We highly recommend using it. It does not cost any money at all (unlike the 668 SMS which costs a little bit). You can use it on any computer or phone, even if you are in another country. It shows you exactly how many SIMs you have on every network.

How to use cnic.sims.pk

  1. Open up Google Chrome or Safari and go to the website cnic.sims.pk
  2. Type in your 13-digit ID card number. Do not use any spaces or lines. Just the numbers (like 3520187654321).
  3. Click the little box to prove you are a human (CAPTCHA).
  4. Press the Submit button.
  5. A clear list will pop up showing every phone company and how many of your SIMs they have.
CNIC: 3520XXXXXXX21
Jazz: 1 SIM working
Telenor: 1 SIM working
Zong: 0 | Ufone: 0 | SCO: 0 | ONIC: 0
Total SIMs: 2 SIMs on this ID card

Why is this the best way?

  • You do not have to pay a single Rupee.
  • It works anywhere in the world — even if you don't have a Pakistani phone with you.
  • If you have a NICOP (for overseas Pakistanis), that works too.
  • It gives you the most information neatly organized.
  • The government told everyone in 2026 that this is the best tool to use.
  • You only need Wi-Fi. It works even if your phone has no signals.
See our picture guide on how to use cnic.sims.pk easily

Way Number 2 — Text 668 (Costs Rs. 2 + Tax)

If you don't have internet, you can use the 668 SMS service. It gives you the same information as the website, but your phone company will charge you about two Rupees plus some tax. It's a great backup method.

How to use the 668 SMS

  1. Open the text message app on any phone in Pakistan.
  2. Type your 13-digit CNIC number with no lines (like 3520187654321).
  3. Send the message to the number 668.
  4. Wait about 15 seconds and you will get a reply message with your info.

Free option instead Use cnic.sims.pk instead
What it tells you How many SIMs you have on each company
Does it work on my network? Yes, it works on all 6 companies in Pakistan

Way Number 3 — Find Out the Name via 667

This is a special code that tells you the name of the person who owns the SIM card that is currently inside your phone. Many places on the internet teach this the wrong way, so pay attention to the exact steps.

⚠️ Don't Make This Mistake!
You must Type: MNP and send it as a message to: 667
Do not try to call the number 667. If you call it, nothing will happen. It only works as an SMS text message.

How to find the name using 667

  1. Make sure the SIM you are checking is inside your phone right now.
  2. Open your text messages.
  3. Type the letters MNP (capital or small letters, both are fine).
  4. Send it to 667.
  5. You will get a message back with the owner's name, part of their ID number, and the day the SIM was bought.
Name: Muhammad Ali
ID Card: 3520***1234*21
Company: Jazz

Working: Yes

Way Number 4 — Which Network Is It? (76367)

Sometimes people change their phone company but keep their old number (like taking a Jazz 0300 number and moving it to Zong). If you want to know which company a number really uses today, you use this code.

⚠️ How to Type It
Type the letter N, then a space, then the full phone number, and send it to 76367.
Example: Type "N 03001234567" and send to 76367

If you don't check this first, you might try to use a Jazz code on a Zong SIM and it will give you an error. Always check the real network first if you are not sure.

Can You Look Up Someone Else's Details?

What is allowed: You can send MNP to 667 to see the name of the person who owns the SIM that is physically inside your hand. You can also send "N and the number" to 76367 to see what company it belongs to.

What is against the law: Finding out the name, address, or ID card of a stranger just by typing their phone number into a website. This breaks the big PECA 2016 law, and you can go to jail for it.

Fake SIM Tracker Websites — The Truth

There are bad websites that say they can track any number. Do not use them! They do not have a real connection to the government computers. They use old, stolen data, and if you click their links, they might put a computer virus (like Raccoon or RedLine) on your phone to steal your passwords.

Popular Phone Scams in 2026 to Watch Out For

  • Scam 1 — The SIM Swap: A bad guy gets a fake copy of your SIM. Suddenly, your real phone stops working.
  • Scam 2 — Stealing Bank Codes: After doing the SIM Swap, the bad guy gets your bank passwords sent to his phone instead of yours.
  • Scam 3 — Fake Government Calls: Someone calls saying they are from a government program (like BISP) and asks for your ID number. Do not give it to them!
  • Scam 4 — Fake Tracking Sites: You type your ID into a fake tracker site, and they use it to steal your identity.
  • Scam 5 — The Fake Prize: You get a message saying you won a lottery, but they need your ID details to "send the money." It's a trick!

30 Common Questions Answered Simply

Q1: How do I check my SIM details for free?
Just go to the website cnic.sims.pk. It costs nothing! Type in your 13-number ID card, click the security box, and press Submit. It will show you a list of all your SIMs instantly.
Q2: How do I use the 667 code correctly?
Open your text messages, type the letters MNP, and send it to the number 667. Do not try to call 667. It will send a message back with the name of the person who owns the SIM that is in your phone.
Q3: How do I use the 76367 code?
Send a text message with the letter N, a space, and then the phone number to 76367 (like this: N 03001234567). It will tell you which phone company that number belongs to.
Q4: Is the 668 SMS free?
No, it costs Rs. 2 plus a little bit of tax every time you send the message. If you want a free way, use the cnic.sims.pk website instead.
Q5: What exactly does the 668 text message tell me?
It only tells you how many SIMs you have, like "You have 1 Jazz and 1 Telenor." It does not tell you the actual phone numbers (like 0300...). To get the real numbers, you have to visit the company's shop.
Q6: Can I look up a stranger's details using their phone number?
No! You can only check the name of the SIM that is physically inside your own phone (using 667). Trying to find a stranger's name or address on the internet is against the law, and you could go to jail for up to 3 years.
Q7: How many SIM cards am I allowed to have?
You can have 8 SIMs in total. 5 of them can be normal phone SIMs, and 3 of them can be internet-only SIMs (for iPads or Wi-Fi devices). If you get more than 8, the government will turn them off.
Q8: What if I see a SIM on my list that is not mine?
Take a picture of the screen. Call the phone company right away. Then go to their shop with your real ID card and tell them to remove it. You should also call PTA at 0800-55055 to complain.
Q9: Can I check my SIMs if I live in another country?
Yes! You can go to cnic.sims.pk from anywhere in the world as long as you have internet. You just type in your NICOP card number. You don't even need a Pakistani phone to do it.
Q10: What is the SVMS computer?
SVMS is a giant, super-safe computer system run by the government. It connects with the fingerprint computer (NADRA) to keep track of who owns every single SIM card in the country safely.
Q11: Will the new ONIC SIMs show up when I check?
Yes. Even though ONIC is a brand new company (their numbers start with 037), their SIMs will show up perfectly when you check on the website or send a text to 668.
Q12: What does fingerprint verification mean?
When you buy a SIM, you have to press your thumb on a machine to prove who you are. If you don't do this, or if the machine makes a mistake, your SIM will stop working until you go back to the shop to try again.
Q13: Why did phones stop working in early 2026?
The government turned off the phones of people who did not do their fingerprint check correctly. If this happened to you, just go to a phone shop and they will fix it for free.
Q14: How long does it take for an extra SIM to get blocked?
If you have more than 8 SIMs, they will block your calls after 17 days. They will stop your internet after 30 days. After 120 days, the SIM is completely destroyed forever.
Q15: Are those tracker websites on the internet legal?
No, those sites are completely illegal. The people who run them get arrested by the police. The information they show is usually fake, and clicking on them might break your phone.
Q16: Is there a phone app to help me?
Yes! You can download the "PTA Pakistan" app on your phone for free. You put in your ID number, and it will beep to warn you if anyone ever tries to buy a new SIM using your name.
Q17: Can I close a SIM if I am out of the country?
Yes, but you have to write a special legal letter (called a Power of Attorney) to a trusted family member in Pakistan. They can take that letter to the shop and close the SIM for you.
Q18: What happens to a SIM when someone passes away?
The SIM will keep working for a little while. The family needs to take the death certificate to the phone shop within 30 days to close the SIM or change it to someone else's name, so bad guys don't steal it.
Q19: What is the difference between 667 and 668?
Use 667 to find out the name of the person who owns the SIM you are holding right now. Use 668 to find out how many total SIMs you have registered on your ID card everywhere.
Q20: Do digital eSIMs show up on the list?
Yes. Even if your SIM is an invisible digital eSIM (like on newer iPhones), it still counts and shows up on the website exactly like a regular plastic SIM card.
Q21: Who do I call if a bad guy steals money using my phone?
You should call the Cybercrime Police right away at 9911. You can also visit their website at nr3c.gov.pk. They are specially trained to catch internet bad guys.
Q22: How do I check Jazz details?
You can use the cnic.sims.pk website for free. If you just want to know your own Jazz number, dial *99# on your screen like you are making a phone call.
Q23: How do I check Zong details?
Use the free website. To find out your own Zong number, dial *310# or *8#. To check your fingerprint status, send the letter V to 7911.
Q24: How do I check Telenor details?
Use the free website. To see your own Telenor number, dial *345# or *222#. To check your fingerprint status, send the letter V to 7751.
Q25: Does the Truecaller app show the official government name?
No. Truecaller just shows whatever name other regular people typed into their phones. It is not the real, official name from the government. Only use the PTA website for the truth.
Q26: Should I use the website or the 668 SMS?
The website (cnic.sims.pk) is better because it's free and gives you more details. But if you don't have internet or Wi-Fi, the 668 SMS is a great backup way to check.
Q27: What is SCO?
SCO is a special phone company for people who live high up in the mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Even though they are far away, their numbers still show up perfectly on the normal checks.
Q28: Does ONIC follow the rules?
Yes. Even though ONIC is very new, they have to follow all the exact same strict government rules about fingerprints and ID cards as everyone else.
Q29: Can a big company own more than 8 SIMs?
Yes, but they use a special business tax number instead of a normal person's ID card. They have to ask the government for special permission first.
Q30: How often should I do this check?
You should check once a month using the free website. If your phone ever stops working randomly, or if a weird person calls you pretending to be from your phone company, check it immediately!
